Embracing God’s Plan in a New Season

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Change. It’s a word that can stir up excitement, but let’s be honest—it often brings a fair share of fear too. Whether you're stepping into a new job, relocating to a different city, or simply entering a new phase of life, there's that quiet uncertainty that creeps in. I know it well.

A few years ago, I packed up everything I owned and moved to a new city for an opportunity that I had prayed for. But as the excitement wore off, reality hit: I didn’t know anyone, I had no safety net, and nothing felt familiar. I found myself clinging to Joshua 1:9, reading it over and over like a lifeline. “Be strong and courageous,” it said. Not as a suggestion—but as a command.

Looking back, that verse didn’t just comfort me; it became the anchor that steadied me through the storm of change. And maybe that’s where you are now—standing on the edge of something new, wondering if you have what it takes to keep going. If so, let me share with you six truths that helped me step forward in faith. I pray they do the same for you.

1. A New Season Comes with New Challenges

(Joshua 1:2)

Every beginning has its bumps. The obstacles you face now aren’t meant to stop you—they’re shaping you. Just like God prepared Joshua to lead with courage, He’s preparing you too. Don’t shy away from the difficulties; let them grow your trust in Him. Remember what Paul said: *“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”* (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your challenges are not signs of failure—they’re opportunities to lean into God’s strength.

2. A New Season Brings New Provision

(Joshua 5:12)

When the Israelites entered the Promised Land, the manna stopped—but God's provision didn’t. He simply provided in a new way. Maybe you’ve noticed that too. What used to sustain you no longer does. That’s okay. God is still your Provider—He’s just inviting you to trust Him in new and unfamiliar ways. You’re not alone; He sees your needs before you even speak them.

 3. A New Season Requires a New Mindset

(Numbers 14:24)

We can’t carry old thinking into new territory. Fear, doubt, and negativity will weigh you down. I remember constantly second-guessing myself during my transition—wondering if I made the wrong move. But like Caleb, who had a “different spirit” and followed God fully, I learned to shift my focus. Embrace this season with a heart full of faith. Expect God to show up. Because He will.

4. A New Season Demands New Priorities

(Joshua 6:19)

Change often brings clarity. You start to see what really matters—and what doesn’t. In my own journey, I realized how much I was clinging to things that were never meant to go with me. God may be asking you to reorder your time, your relationships, even your habits. It’s not about loss; it’s about alignment. Put Him first, and everything else will fall into place.

 5. A New Season Leads to Greater Growth

(Joshua 3:5)

Growth often looks like pruning. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s necessary. In this season, you might be shedding old attitudes or letting go of relationships that no longer support your purpose. Don’t resist it. God is preparing you for something greater—something that can only come when you let Him refine you. Growth is hard, but so, so worth it.

 6. A New Season Means New Direction

(Joshua 8:2)

What worked before might not work now. And that’s not failure—it’s invitation. God might be asking you to step out in a completely new direction. It could feel unfamiliar, even risky. But trust Him. Just as He gave Joshua a new strategy for battle, He’ll give you fresh vision for this new chapter. Stay close to Him. He’s always leading—even when the path looks different than you expected.

A Prayer for You

Heavenly Father, thank You for walking with me into this new season. Help me to be strong and courageous, even when everything around me feels uncertain. Let Your presence be my peace and Your Word be my compass. Shift my mindset, reorder my heart, and guide my every step. I trust You with what’s ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Final Encouragement

This new season isn’t just about where you’re going—it’s about who you’re becoming. God is not just changing your circumstances; He’s changing you. Let Him.

So here’s my challenge to you: Take one step today—just one—that aligns with the person you’re becoming. Maybe it’s starting that journal, joining a new community, or simply spending five extra minutes in prayer. Whatever it is, do it with courage.

Because God is with you. And your best days? They’re not behind you—they’re ahead. 💛

If you’d like a printable version of this encouragement to keep or share, just let me know—I’d love to help you carry these truths into your daily life.
