Embracing God’s Plan in a New Season

"Have I not told you to do this? Be brave and powerful. "Don't be afraid or give up; the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Switch. It's a term that may get you excited, but let's be honest: it can also scare you. When you start a new job, move to a new place, or just start a new chapter in your life, you can feel a little unsure. I know it well.

A few years ago, I relocated to a new city with everything I owned because I got the job I had been praying for. But once the thrill wore off, I realized that I didn't know anyone, I didn't have a safety net, and nothing felt like home. I kept reading Joshua 1:9 over and over again like it was a lifeline. "Be brave and strong," it urged. Not as a recommendation, but as an order.

That verse didn't simply make me feel better; it became the anchor that kept me steady during all the changes. And maybe that's where you are right now: on the verge of something new, wondering if you can keep going. If so, here are six things that helped me move ahead in faith. I hope they do the same for you.

1. A new season brings new problems

(Joshua 1:2)

Every start has its problems. The problems you're having right now aren't designed to stop you; they're helping you grow. He is getting you ready to lead with bravery, just like He did with Joshua. Don't run away from problems; allow them make you trust Him more. Remember what Paul said: "My grace is enough for you; my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your problems aren't an indication that you've failed; they're chances to rely on God's power.

2. A new season brings new things to do

(Joshua 5:12)

The manna ceased when the Israelites got to the Promised Land, but God's help didn't. He just gave in a different way. You could have seen that too. What used to keep you going doesn't anymore. That's OK. God is still your Provider—He’s just calling you to trust Him in new and unknown ways. He knows what you need before you even say it.

3. A new season means a new way of thinking

(Numbers 14:24)

We can't bring old ideas with us to new places. Fear, doubt, and negativity will bring you down. I recall often second-guessing myself during my transition and wondering if I had made the right choice. But like Caleb, who had a "different spirit" and followed God completely, I learned to change my mind. Have trust in this time of year. God will show up. Because He will.

4. A New Season Demands New Priorities

(Joshua 6:19)

Change can help you see things more clearly. You begin to understand what is important and what isn't. I learned how much I was holding on to things that weren't meant to be with me on my own path. You might need to change how you spend your time, who you spend it with, or even how you live your life. It's not about losing; it's about getting everything in line. Put Him first, and everything else will work out.

5. A New Season Means More Growth

(Joshua 3:5)

Pruning is typically a sign of growth. It hurts. But it's required. You could be letting go of outdated beliefs or connections that don't help you reach your goals this season. Don't fight it. God is getting you ready for something bigger, something that can only happen if you allow Him make you better. It's hard to grow, but it's so worth it.

6. A new season means a new path

(Joshua 8:2)

What worked in the past may not work now. And that's not a failure; it's an invitation. God may be telling you to go in an entirely other way. It could feel strange or even dangerous. But have faith in Him. He'll give you a new way to see things for this new chapter, just like He did for Joshua. Stay close to Him. Even when the journey looks different than you thought, he's always in charge.

A Prayer for You

Thank You, God, for journeying with me into this new time. Even when everything around me seems unclear, please give me strength and bravery. Let Your presence provide me serenity and Your Word guide me. Change the way I think, rearrange my heart, and show me the way. I trust You with what’s ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Last Words of Encouragement

This new season isn't only about where you're going; it's also about who you're becoming. God is not only altering your circumstances; He is transforming you. Let Him.

So here's my challenge to you: Do one thing today that fits with the person you're becoming. It may be beginning a diary, joining a new group, or just praying for five more minutes. Whatever it is, do it with guts.

Because God is with you. And what about your best days? They are not behind you; they are in front of you. 💛

If you want a printable version of this encouragement to keep or share, please let me know. I'd love to help you remember these truths in your everyday life.
