From Scattered Dreams to Focused Faith

I’ve always believed that doing more meant being more. More ministries, more side hustles, more responsibilities. But one night, exhausted from a full shift and trying to lead my family, my job, and my church responsibilities—I finally broke down. I asked God, “Am I doing this for You… or just trying to prove something to everyone?”

When I got married, I carried the same mindset I had in high school—do everything, be everything, be everywhere. I wanted to be the best provider, a good husband, a present father, a leader in our church ministry, and an employee who never slacked—despite working night shifts.

But here’s the hard truth: being a jack-of-all-trades doesn’t make you successful—it makes you tired.

I lacked direction. I was involved in every area of my life but wasn’t fully present in any of them. I started resenting the very blessings I prayed for: my family, my work, my ministry.

Then came a moment I’ll never forget. I had just finished leading a small group Bible study—exhausted but fulfilled. While wrapping up, one of the members thanked me and said, “You know what I admire? You're always available.” I smiled… but inside, I felt empty. Not because I wasn’t honored, but because I realized I had traded availability for purpose.

That night, I knelt in prayer. And in that stillness, I felt God impress one word on my heart: FOCUS.

“You don’t have to do everything to please Me,” I felt God say.
“You just have to be faithful in doing the right things.”

1. Faith: The Foundation of Focus

The dictionary says faith is confidence in something. But the Bible goes deeper.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Paul wrote to second-generation believers facing intense persecution between 64 AD and 85 AD. His message was clear: anchor your life on faith in Jesus, not what’s visible or temporary.

Think about it—can you see the air you breathe? No. But you believe it's there. That’s the same kind of trust we must place in God's promises, especially when life feels uncertain.

Faith Keyword Tip: anchor your content with phrases like "faith in Jesus", "biblical truth", and "trusting God's plan" for SEO.

2. Obedience: The Discipline of Love

When I was young, I obeyed my parents mostly out of fear. I didn't want to be scolded or miss out on school or allowance. But over time, my motivation changed—I wanted to make them proud. I wanted their sacrifices to be worth it.

In the same way, obedience to God shouldn’t be driven by fear alone—it should be rooted in love.

“If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
John 14:15

When we obey God, we affirm that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross wasn't in vain. That’s the kind of obedience that springs from love, not just obligation.

3. Commitment: Staying Loyal Beyond Feelings

Commitment used to be a big, scary word for me. I once dated someone I thought I would marry, but that relationship didn’t last. It taught me this:

“Commitment means staying true to what you said you’d do, long after the feeling you said it in has left.”

Paul understood this well. He was committed to sharing the Gospel, even when it was dangerous and unpopular.

“Then the Lord said to me, 'Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”
Acts 22:21

“Forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what is ahead.”
Philippians 3:13

Real commitment keeps going, even when it's inconvenient.

4. Understanding: Knowing God's Heart

Understanding God's will requires intentional time in the Word and prayer. Many times, we get frustrated when our prayers seem unanswered—but often it's because we don’t understand His bigger plan.

To grow in your walk, spend quiet moments with God. Meditate on His Word. Reflect on His character.

Knowing God's heart: Read the bible, Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path..

5. Share and Serve: Living Out the Great Commission

When someone wins the lottery, everyone in their family eventually finds out. Joy is contagious. It spreads fast.

The same happened during Jesus' time—people couldn’t stop talking about His miracles. Today, we are called to spread the Good News with the same urgency and joy.

“Go and make disciples of all nations...”
Matthew 28:19–20

You don’t need to be a preacher. You just need to be available. You can share Jesus:

At work during lunch breaks

With your neighbors while doing errands

Online through your posts and stories

Action Points:
Don’t wait for a stage—start where you are. Be the light in your home, office, school, or community. Share Jesus with someone today. You might just change a life.

Finally

You may feel like you're juggling too many things—work, family, ambitions, even ministry. But take it from someone who’s been there: true purpose begins when you focus on what matters most—Jesus.

Faith. Obedience. Commitment. Understanding. Sharing.

These aren’t just churchy words—they’re a lifestyle.
