Nothing Can Separate Us

Nothing Can Separate Us: Unshakable Faith and God's Unfailing Love

Romans 8:38–39 (NIV)F

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are seasons in life when it feels like everything is unraveling—when we silently question our purpose, our value, even God’s presence. I’ve had moments like these. Quiet battles behind a smile, doubts tucked into the corners of my heart. Sometimes I’ve wondered: *“Am I still loved by God, even when I feel this far off?”*

And then I read Romans 8:38–39, and it stops me in my tracks. Paul says it so confidently: “I am convinced.” Not “I hope” or “I think”—but convinced. That neither life nor death, not even angels or demons, not the things we fear about the future or the regrets we carry from the past, nothing*can separate us from God’s love.

It’s a bold statement—but it’s also the kind of truth I need on the days I feel small, broken, or unworthy.  That no matter what lies ahead of our road, there is this assuring hug from above that he will not leave us nor forsake us.

Sometimes I try to carry too much on my own. Whem times that I was not faithful. I think I have to “fix” myself before I can come near to God again. But this verse reminds me that His love isn’t about me being flawless—it’s about Him being faithful. It’s not earned. It’s not fragile. It doesn’t shift with my emotions or disappear when I stumble. God’s love is steady—even when I’m not.

What really moves me about this passage is how Paul goes to extremes to cover everything we might imagine could separate us from God. He names life and death. Angels and demons. Powers. Height and depth. The present and the future. And then he adds a final phrase: "nor anything else in all creation." It’s like he’s saying, *“Just in case I missed anything—nothing. Absolutely nothing.

And that includes me. My doubts. My mess. My failures. My forgetfulness. My fear. All of it is covered by this kind of love.

What Does This Mean for You Today?

- You are not too far gone.
- You are not too broken.
- You are not forgotten.

God’s love isn’t waiting for a better version of you. He loves you now, right where you are

This isn’t just a verse to admire—it’s a promise to cling to. On the quiet mornings when life feels uncertain, and in the loud moments when I don’t know what tomorrow holds, I want to live convinced of this truth: I am loved, and nothing can change that.

So today, I rest. Not in my own strength or ability to hold it all together, but in God’s unshakeable love. The kind that reaches into every corner of my life and says, “You are still mine.”

That’s more than comforting. That’s freedom

Have you ever felt distant from God? What “thing” in your life makes you feel separated from His love—and how does this verse speak into that place?

Pray

Lord, remind me daily that Your love never fails, never fades, and never leaves me. Even when I waver, You remain. Help me to live convinced that nothing—absolutely nothing—can separate me from You.
